Vulture Talisman Necklace

$145

Artist: Alex Hossick

The Egyptian vulture was not only sacred to Egyptian culture and protected by the Pharaohs, but also represents the letter “A” in Egyptian hieroglyphs. Death was the punishment for killing this sacred bird, as it was linked to motherhood and purity. Ancient Egyptians revered the vulture as an animal who understood the real meaning of life and death- death of one meant life for another - and was worn as a protective talisman.

A wax impression of an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph has been modified and transformed into a wearable piece of art through the lost wax casting process. Each talisman is uniquely made by hand.

16-18" adjustable length
